To Whom It May Concern. My name is Lu Raubenheimer Schoeman. I am currently studying for a degree in BEng (Process) at the University of Stellenbosch. (This is the old days’ Chemical engineering degree that also focuses on minerals processing and oil refining applications). 2008 is my final year of study. I have made no commitment whatsoever to any company for a bursary or future work purposes. I am currently looking to start a career at the beginning of 2009. I am looking to start a career in any kind of process engineering discipline in order to gain experience in the field. I am a very practically orientated person. My field of interest is general in process engineering, but I do have preferences. Among my preferences are the environment, oil or sustainable energy and water treatment. My final year project is related to leaching uranium out of a Vaal River region gold ore. More specifically looking into the kinetics of Brannerite. My final year design relates to water treatment of a mine effluent. I served on the House Committee of Pieke mens private residence in 2006/07. I found it very challenging in terms of using my time optimally since running a PSO (private students organization) is very time consuming. In parallel with studying BEng (Chem) this made my sleeping time during my time as a HC member very little, although I survived and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Being a HC member and working with hundreds of people during the year sharpened my people skills significantly. I found this to be the most valuable gain in my entire experience of serving on a HC. Personal interests include all kinds of sport, especially tennis and golf. I am also a small-scale beekeeper. I have been doing this for almost five years now. It came in very handy at times when finances were scarce. Farming with bees taught me a lot about small-scale business and also managing time out of the University framework.
